Location: Based in Essex will need to be in commutable distance - London Gateway - Government services in Stanford-Le-Hope - 60/40 split for onsite - 6am, 8am, 10:15am or 1:45pm start times for shifts. Shift Patterns. Average of 7.75 hours per day. Required to work 1 out of 8 weekends.

Requirements
Looking for environmental health officer, technical port officer or Port health officer
Environmental health degree or masters
Must have passed all professional qualifications
Chartered environmental health - passed - Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH)
EHS qualification preferable
Local authority or food and health safety background can be considered
Professional Qualifications / Relevant Education & Training
Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in Environmental Health which is approved by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
Registered with the EHO Registration Board (EHORB) so as to be able to practice professionally as an Environmental Health Officer in the UK.
A Chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
Experience Required
1. Previous experience as an Environmental Health Practitioner within a Port Health environment.
2. Experience of involvement and liaison with other professional institutions and outside bodies - e.g. DEFRA, APHA, FSA, BRDO, BIS, BEIS, PHE, EA, CIEH.
Possess:
A post-graduate qualification relevant to a functional area of Port Health work e.g. Food Safety.
Qualification as an Official Fishery Inspector (or must undertake practical training and complete the FSA online course within 6 months of appointment.
A significant and demonstrable level of technical knowledge and experience as required at this level;
Extensive knowledge of any relevant national or international legislation, guidance, and industry good practice.
A thorough understanding of Food and Feed controls at a Border Control post.
A thorough understanding of the regulatory services normally covered by a Port Health authority and local authorities.
Experience in drafting and serving enforcement notices and recommending legal proceedings
Desirable
1. Experience in supervision of professional, technical and/or administrative staff.
2. Ideally experience as an Official Fish Inspector.
3. Ideally qualification and experience as a Food Competent Certifying officer for Fishery Products – OCQ (CO).
4. Experience of Port Inventory systems such as Desting or CNS Compass.
5. Experience with IPAFFS and PHILIS.
6. Experience of working in a Port Health environment.
7. Experience of working in an Environmental Health environment.
