Qualifications
- Degree (or be working towards) in town and country planning, geography or related environmental discipline.

Experience
- At least three years' experience of town and country planning either in development management or planning policy context.
- Experience of minerals and waste development management

Essential knowledge, skills & abilities
- Knowledge of minerals and waste industries and associated environmental issues
- Excellent report writing skills and good attention to detail
- Ability to analyse environmental reports and to devise solutions to environmental issues
- Ability to work under pressure and flexibility to manage own workload to meet strict timescales
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of national policy and guidance relevant to planning and specifically to minerals and waste development
- Knowledge of planning enforcement procedures and practices
- Understanding of the local plan preparation process
- Ability to cope with the physical demands of visiting mineral extraction and waste management site
